Detroit Lions vs Denver Broncos: Tim Tebow and the Lions’ Future

Columns, Top Story

Lions 45 – Broncos 10

Rhett Davis is selling early on Tebow: “With seven sacks on him, one interception, and two fumbles turned into touchdowns, one might want to reconsider Tim Tebow as the solution to all of Denver’s problems. Detroit is looking as dominant as ever and, with putting 45 points on the board, the Detroit Lions might be right back in their stride after the loss to the 49ers. The Detroit Lions will not capture their division title as it would be hard to see the Packers derailing from their path of destruction. The Broncos most likely will not make playoffs unless they turn their entire season around and Tim Tebow come out and start playing like Cam Newton.”

As is Daniels: “This game was a gift. The Broncos are terrible. It seems insane to me at this point how the Denver coach will not alter his system to fit the particular skills of Tim Tebow. NFL coaches that can’t alter their offenses to fit the tools they have at their disposal are bad NFL coaches.”

My Take: Tebow’s strengths might or might not win NFL games, but playing him conventionally will absolutely not do. Perhaps the coaching staff’s unwillingness to adapt to Tebow is why they were so resistant to giving him a shot? Honestly, though, Tebow guarantees sell outs, and if the Broncos are going to suck anyway, they might as well suck, make money, and get a better draft pick. The Lions looked angry after losing the last two weeks, but we still need to see them beat a good team that has an offensive line. They’re perfectly tailored to whup the Bears… but I can’t wait until Thanksgiving.
