10 Thoughts on WWE Raw Supershow 11.7.11 (CM Punk, John Cena, Miz, R-Truth)

Reviews, Top Story

1. So Morrison loses week after week, gets an article about he loses, gets demoted to Superstars then loses… and now he beats the US Champion Dolph Ziggler, who the company is reportedly high on. Just a reminder,ya’ll, we know nothing.

2. Is it me or did Kevin Nash’s logic for attacking Hunter lack any real… logic? It’s like they were going for H’s “I never liked you” speech on HBK without any real idea how to get it across.

3. The Punk – Otunga segment was the best of the show and actually made me smile. Del Rio getting the upper hard so much means he loses, right?

4. Swagger vs. Santino and Ryan vs. JTG on Raw? They must be in another country and need filler. I know Santino got to beat Swagger last week, but it was with Muppet-ference – Swagger didn’t need his job back.

5. Team Orton vs. Team Barrett doesn’t have a lot that interests me, but at least it’s a Survivor Series-style match. Orton, Sheamus, Sin Cara, Mason Ryan and Kofi Kingston vs. Wade Barrett, Jack Swagger, Cody Rhodes, Christian and Hunico. I also guess the US title will be defended. Does Morrison get a shot for his win or does Ryder’s petition gain traction?

6. I really wish they’d keep the show opening promos for when people have something of interest to say. Cena just coming out and rambling makes for poor television and poor storytelling.

7. I know Wrestlemania 28 tickets are on sale, but the damn show is going to sell out. Why waste multiple bits of airtime hyping it? It’s Wrestlemania with Cena vs. The Rock. Showing fans buying tickets isn’t going to convince anyone this is important.

8. On the other hand, Kelly Kelly in Maxim is the kind of thing they should promote the hell out of. Remember when Divas set Playboy sales records? Divas getting the same for Maxim would do a lot to convince advertisers WWE is viable, as well as prod more magazines into covering WWE.

9. While the crowd ate it up, the cookie cutter nature of the Zack Ryder and Cena vs. Awesome Truth match was terrible. Cena faced these two down alone last week. All this week showed is that Cena plus Ryder is less than Cena alone. Are we supposed to think Rock is on Ryder’s level and the heels now have a chance? Of course not, so this was a waste of time.

10. Which is ultimately what this, and most, foreign Raws are. WWE seem generally loathe to push an angle forward in a meaningful way unless it’s in the USA or Canada and it’s a shame, as foreign crowds are generally pretty awesome. It seemed, at one point, WWE would use great matches as the draw for away Raws, but even that’s fallen by the wayside. Now, these shows are just sort of here. 4/10.
