On Thursday, Billy Crystal sent out a tweet that he would be hosting the 84th Academy Awards telecast. He has previously presided over the telecast eight times.
In his tweet he wrote, “Am doing the Oscars so the young woman in the pharmacy will stop asking my name when I pick up my prescriptions. Looking forward to the show.”
Crystal’s announcement comes on the heels of Eddie Murphy removing himself as host after Brett Ratner resigned as producer due to insensitive comments me made regarding rehearsals being for fags.
Hollywood movie producer Brian Grazer will co-produce the telecast with Don Mischer.
Funnily enough, there has been a grassroots campaign to get the Muppets to host the show, since the Muppets totally rock. But I wouldn’t be surprised if Kermit and Miss Piggy somehow got involved with the program.
