Psych – Episode 6-5 Review – “Dead Man’s Curve Ball”

Reviews

The hitting coach of the local minor league baseball team suddenly dies with drugs in his system. The team’s manager (Danny Glover) believes it to be foul play and brings aboard Shawn and Gus to go undercover in order to investigate.

While this episode is short on some of the usual suspects; Lassiter, Juliet, Chief Vick, and the rest, this is a very Shawn-centric episode that delivers a one two comedy punch. Shawn Spencer on speed? Yeah, you got it!

Mascot gags and fast talking aside, this episode provides terrific balance between life and comedy as Shawn helps out an old friend and a childhood hero. Its good to see Psych taking on its own cases and not relying heavily on the police and procedure. Aging acting veteran Danny Glover stands up well against the wise cracking Spencer in an episode that see’s Psych return to true form, unlike last weeks disaster of an episode.
