Sacha Baron Cohen Joins Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained

Casting News, News, Projects

The casting call doesn’t stop for Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained. Recently, CSI: Miami‘s Rex Linn (aka Det. Frank Tripp) was added to the cast and now Variety is reporting that Sacha Baron Cohen is signing on to play Scotty Harmony. Cohen’s character has been retooled, as originally the character was said to be an overweight 24-year-old with self-confidence issues. So his father buys him Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) to help his self-confidence. His role is a small one (ultimately losing Broomhilda to DiCaprio’s Calvin Candle in a card game), but he’s a recognizable name so it should help in the marketing towards 18-30 year olds.

With the addition of Sacha Baron Cohen, the credits include the likes of Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, Kerry Washington, Dennis Christopher, Kurt Russell, Laura Cayouette, Don Johnson, M.C. Gainey, Tom Savini, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anthony LaPaglia, RZA, Misty Upham, Tom Wopat, James Remar, James Russo, Todd Allen and Rex Linn.

It’s basically a “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, F*cking QT Movie!”

Django to get unchained and revenge on some honkies next Christmas.
