In a recent interview, New Girl boss Liz Meriweather discussed the Jess/Nick relationship and if it will blossom into a full-out romance.
Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake M. Johnson) “are coming out of relationships that didn’t go that well,” said the showrunner, “so they’re not at the perfect time in their lives to be together. It’s actually more important [at the moment] that their friendship blossoms.”
That doesn’t not mean that the couple won’t hook up especially after the cute toothbrush scene last week.
“…They have a while to go emotionally before they’re going to be at that place… But who knows!” said Meriweather.
