Box Office: Breaking Dawn Makes $30.25 Million From Midnight Shows

News

Be careful when you go to the theater this weekend, you may see more people than you had in previous weeks.

The Twilight series, like a Tyler Perry movie, is indefinitely critic proof. And if you’re not a fan of the books or the previous films, the pickings are slim when it comes to decent entertainment this weekend.

If you do happen to venture out be warned, the Twilight fans will be out in full force. Overnight, the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s Breaking Dawn novel made $30.25 million from 12:01 AM post-midnight showings from 3,521 theaters. It is the best for the series thus far (Twilight made 7.5M which set record at that time, New Moon $26.3M, and Eclipse $30.1M), and that figure is good enough for it be #2 in the all-time midnights record. (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 banked $43.5 million from 3800 theaters this past summer.)

Stay tuned for more box office coverage, as Breaking Dawn looks to have between a $110 to $140 million weekend.
