Nam Phan vs. Jim Hettes On Tap For UFC 141

News

The always exciting Nam Phan and the undefeated Jim Hettes are slated to fight at UFC 141.

UFC.com made the announcement on Wednesday that Nam Phan and Jim Hettes have verbally agreed to face each other at UFC 141. This bout is sure to be an exciting one, as Nam Phan has earned “Fight of the Night” honors in two of his three UFC bouts, and Jim Hettes has defeated all nine of his opponents by submission.

After going on an impressive eight fight win-streak, the UFC finally gave Jim Hettes a shot at the big-time and he didn’t disappoint. At UFC Live: Hardy vs. Lytle, Alex Caceres fell victim to Hettes’ rear naked choke in the second round. With impressive judo and BJJ offense on his side, Hettes will be walking into the octagon at UFC 141 with a lot of momentum behind him.

On the other side of the octagon will be Nam Phan. Phan made his UFC debut at “The Ultimate Fighter Season 12 Finale” and had an exciting fight against Leonard Garcia. Even though Phan outlanded Garcia and looked like the more intelligent fighter, Garcia was given the decision victory. That left not only a sour taste in the fans’ mouths, but also the mouth of Nam Phan. The rematch took place at UFC 136 in October and Phan dominated Garcia. Phan is known for his very strategic and unique style of striking, utilizing angles very well.

UFC 141 take place on December 30, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event on the card is scheduled to be Alistair Overeem vs. Brock Lesnar in a top contenders bout for the UFC Heavyweight Title.
