Dwayne Johnson to find himself hunting monsters, the undead and the unnatural.
Known to wrestling fans as “The Rock” and “The Most Electrifying Man in Sports-Entertainment,” Dwayne Johnson has become quite the movie franchise savior of late. After watching Fast Five balloon up to earnings of more than $626 million worldwide, the wrestler-cum-actor in 2012 finds himself in even more sequels.
In February he’ll be joining Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson and Oscar winner Michael Caine in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, a sequel to the Brendan Fraser-starring Journey to the Center of the Earth. Next summer, Johnson will play Roadblock in G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation, a sequel to the 2009 film that sees Channing Tatum return as Duke, Ray Park as Snake Eyes, and Arnold Vosloo (Johnson’s co-star in The Mummy Returns) as Zartan. New additions include Bruce Willis, Ray Stevenson, Adrianne Palicki, and Justified‘s Walton Goggins.
Besides these sequels, Johnson is set to star in the upcoming thriller Snitch alongside Susan Sarandon and Barry Pepper.
Most recently, Johnson has attached himself to Monster Hunter’s Survival Guide, a live action adventure film based on the comic book miniseries by John Paul Russ. According to Deadline, the book series is a comprehensive guide to hunt monsters, the undead and unnatural beasts, and survive the confrontations.
