Salutations, ladies and gents. Miss Kelly Floyd is enjoying a well-deserved vacation. So, we’ve dug deep into the Pulse roster and pulled out yours truly…..Jonah Kue. With that said, let’s get to our 10 thoughts on Blue Friday, shall we?
1. History says that Bryan is playing a role recently made famous by Bourne, Chavo, and the like. Still, the repetition of this conflict between Henry and Bryan is what’s sparking a inkling thought of deviation from the pattern. The beatdowns, Henry taunting Bryan’s use (both lack of and potential) of his MITB case, Bryan sticking to his notion of cashing it in at ‘Mania…this seems to be something of a long term build between the two for ‘Mania. Something similar to Mickie James and Beth Phoenix from a few years ago, perhaps? Well, with far better wrestling, of course. Time will tell if my optimism is indeed simply naivety.
2. I know I’ve said this about Morrison earlier this year, but if Ziggler isn’t pushed to some type of main event match in the upcoming months, I’ll be a bit floored. Dolph is putting on fantastic matches, and the kid has charisma, albeit a bit overshadowed by Vickie. With a chance to drop the mid card belt to Morrison this Sunday, perhaps it’s time for that oh-so-common main event test match at the Royal Rumble. Maybe against Punk? Hell, you won’t catch me complaining.
3. Mason Ryan…..impressive? Honestly, his match with Swagger was like watching a parody of a match between Batista and Angle.
4. Not sure what’s more comedic: Aksana’s backstage music or the fact that she gets her innuendos from Shin Chan.
5. I’m not sure how I feel about this stalling in Christian’s storyline. On one hand, it could be a hell of a build up for some Smackdown employee/boss angle. On the other hand, this could go the way of the anonymous GM on Raw.
6. You know, I like Bateman. I’m indifferent about DiBiase. Why not utilize Bateman/Maxine in the same way as Ziggler/Vickie? Some formulas do work, you know.
7. Big Show punches Mahal for speaking in Hindi? Racism.
8. Speaking of Big Show, his promo was….horrendous. And a good reason why he won’t be carrying the belt for awhile. Don’t get me wrong, I think Show definitely has shown good mic skills in the past, but this…I can’t even think of anything witty. I just fucking hated it.
9. Great match between Kingston and Hunico. And here, I thought nothing good would come out of that horrible Sin Cara squared feud.
10. Wow, Orton and Sheamus beat the hell out of two and a half heels to end the show. So, with the faces winning on Friday, I suppose it means….the faces are gonna win on Sunday as well. Honestly, I can’t imagine this going any other way. With that said, Sheamus is looking like even more of a beast on a weekly basis. The guy has fantastic charisma, and his in-ring work is aesthetically great and high impact, exactly what ‘E usually looks for. He’s done extremely well as the number two face on the blue brand, and I’m more than sure he can fill that roll as main event face that people ACTUALLY CHEER FOR fantastically.
