Josh Koscheck and Carlos Condit Set to Battle at UFC 143

News

Super Bowl weekend is really picking up for UFC fans. February 4th, not only will Nick Diaz challenge UFC Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre for the title, but top contenders Josh Koscheck and Carlos Condit will be fighting as well.

Late Sunday night, Koscheck let the cat out of the bag when he tweeted the news along with a link to his bout agreement:

Condit, as we all know, was originally slated to face BJ Penn at UFC 137 before Nick Diaz’ repeated missteps led to him being removed from his main event title fight with GSP. Condit was moved into his place and Diaz was given the shot at Penn, however, GSP was injured shortly before the event and had to withdraw. Penn lost to Diaz, who called out St-Pierre.

Hoping to save face after being publicly humiliated, GSP demanded a fight with Diaz, once again removing Condit from the title picture.

Now he’ll get a shot at Koscheck, who was thoroughly dismantled by St-Pierre in his first title shot at UFC 124 in December 2010. Koscheck returned in September after a nine-month layoff to defeat Matt Hughes via first round TKO.
