The Book I Want to Buy:

Aliens: Fast Track to Heaven

by Liam Sharp; Dark Horse, $10.99

I’ve been in an Aliens mood of late.  I was talking about how I’ve only seen the fourth (Joss Whedon-scripted) film once about a week ago, and then just today bought a boxed set of all the movies on DVD for a very reasonable price.  This Aliens nostalgia reminds me of when Dark Horse made much of their name behind their Aliens and (to a much lesser extent) Predator comics back in the day, and how good some of their mini-series were (some were awful).

Anyway, a Liam Sharp Aliens original graphic novel graphic novel sounds tempting.  I don’t know about it being only 40 pages for $10.99 – this to my mind should probably not be a hardcover comic, but a nice prestige format, costing somewhat less than an issue of Dark Horse Presents, but the entire premise behind this column is that comics reading is an expensive hobby, and were money no object, I’d definitely be picking this up this week.

Sharp is a solid comics artist, although I’m not too familiar with his track record for writing.  This does sound like an interesting book – there’s a broken space elevator at a research station on Europa, one of Jupiter’s moons, and I suspect, an Alien inside it.  It sounds like Sharp is returning to the  claustrophobic roots that made this franchise work so well in the first place.

So, what would you buy Were Money No Object?
