Every so often I’ll take a day off, but I’m never going to miss one. Sometimes two things just go better together, like the first two days. Or, to an extent, Generation Lost a few days back. So what’s so special that I’d choose to put them up together?
Well, the first item today is Thor. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Anthony Hopkins (top of my head, didn’t pull up a master list), it’s the adaption of Marvel’s God of Thunder, and it was awesome. It features a unique take on just how the character exists in the Marvel Universe, some great acting, and a truly epic little story. It’s not as awesome as my next pick on here, but it’s definitely worth the viewing for any fans of the character, superhero movies, or anyone interested in next years Avengers movie.
The other pick to go along with it? Captain America: The First Avenger. Chris Evans plays our favorite Super Soldier in what is, in my opinion, not only the best of Marvel’s movies, but one of the best World War II movies of the last several years. An incredible period piece that introduces the world to its first superhero. Such an awesome flick, I’m probably going to click the link and buy it myself after I post this! Easily the best comic book movie of 2011 in my eyes. Not a fan of Captain America? This movie will make you one. Chris Evans completely becomes Steve Rogers and it only serves to make things even better. Great acting in this one.
