Per Dana White, Georges St. Pierre’s knee injury that pulled him out of a fight with Carlos Condit was more severe than previously thought. It’s now a torn ACL and with his withdrawal, Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit will fight for an interim welterweight championship and a unification fight with GSP down the road.
“GSP blown acl will be out for 10 mos. Now Condit vs Diaz for the interim welterweight title on Feb 4th in Las Vegas!!”
Interesting note: the last interim welterweight champion was GSP, who won the belt with Matt Serra injured in December 2007.
