DC Comics Relaunch: Another New 52 Costume Unveiled For Superman… Inspired By Supergirl?

Features, News, Top Story

That crafty writer Grant Morrison and sneaky artist Rags Morales. For anyone that read this past week’s Superman offering from the New 52, you would have noticed a new costime debuted for the Man-boy of Steel.

It was a costume eerily similar to a pre-Flashpoint SuperGIRL costume during the Linda Danvers era of that character, which in turn “borrowed” the costume concept for the Superman Animated TV series at the time. So, can you see the similarities between the costumes of the Girls and the one debuted in the DC Comics Relaunch’s Action Comics #4? ;)

So, with that, we now have three New 52 costumes for Superman. When you stack these new costumes up with the pre-Flashpoint tailored fabric, you get a “classic costume” lineage that looks like the below (BTW, that last pic on the right is a not-so-widely circulated Jim Lee conept sketch of the New 52 Superman; the Cully Hamner Superman style guide seems in wider circulation):

So, what do you think of Action Comics’ Superman-boy’s newest costume?

And, what do you think of Supergirl’s New 52 costume (right) in comparison to her pre-Flashpoint threads? It’s certainly different from “her” (all relative I guess) white costume as pointed out earlier.

In the grand scheme of things, do the costumes really matter to you, if the story and art are solid?

What say you, gentle reader?

First Brainiac Girl, now this. :) An interesting few days of “super” comic news.
