DC Comics Relaunch: What Happened To Atlantis?

News

In the current Aquaman series it has been established that he chose to move to the surface instead of rule Atlantis, and while we haven’t seen the underwater kingdom, we’d been given no real reason to think anything of it. After all, Aquaman doesn’t always get along with his people. So today DC releases their solicits for March, and, well, here’s Aquaman’s.

Who destroyed Atlantis? In the start of a new storyline, we follow the hunter as he stalks and kills his prey, claiming their weapons and armor as trophies. A golden shield, a golden helm…and the final prize is the most powerful of all: a golden trident. The only problem is, he’s going to have to go through Aquaman to get it. Who is he? What is the secret of Aquaman’s trident? And how does this all tie into the destruction of Atlantis?

Atlantis is destroyed?! But that happened during Infinite Crisis! Is it still destroyed via evil Spectre, or is it something else? And what about the trident? It was hinted in the most recent issue that the origins of it might lead to bad times. So is the destruction of Atlantis something to do with the trident?
