One Thought On WWE’s CM Punk And Daniel Bryan (+ Video)

Columns, Top Story

As WWE’s final PPV of 2011 comes to a close the company’s two World Champions are two Internet favorites who made their name in Ring of Honor and have referred to themselves as the best in the world: WWE Champ CM Punk and new World Heavyweight Champ Daniel Bryan…

Here’s my “one thought…” Keep these two as champion and build to a unification bout at WresleMania.

First of all, it’s the only title match that can hang with Undertaker’s try for 20-0 and The Rock’s homecoming against John Cena.

Also it is a selling point for “Internet fans” on a card that has a little for everyone else. Something the company hasn’t been able to pull off on the big stage since Benoit and Eddy ended Mania XX at MSG as champs. (And with seemingly two much healthier workers than those two.)

Finally, these two wrestlers are currently under contract and full time superstars. No need to bring in Jericho. No reliance on Rock, Taker or HHH. And no gimmicks necessary.

Sure they’d have to figure out a few things, including what to do with the Rumble winner. But that’s all part of the fun that this storyline – and resulting match – would bring.
