Were Money No Object on January 4th

Columns, Features

It’s always slim pickings the week before and the weeks after Christmas, as publishers try to put out all the big stuff in the period leading into the holidays.  That’s why I didn’t write one of these for last week, and have only one book to spotlight this week.

The Book I Think You Should Buy:

Witchfinder Vol.2: Lost and Gone Forever

by Mike Mignola, John Arcudi, and John Severin; Dark Horse, $17.99

I know that this is the second volume starring Sir Edward Grey, the Witchfinder, but Witchfinder Volume 2: Lost and Gone Forever is a very good comic that doesn’t require any prior knowledge of the character.  Sir Grey, commonly known as the Witchfinder in Victorian London, travels to the Old West to track down an occultist.  Things go very strangely for him right off the bat, as he comes across a hostile town and its burned out church.  He is rescued from angry townsfolk by a mysterious cowboy, and gets involved in some intrigue that involves zombies and a young white woman who leads a local First Nations tribe.

The biggest reason to buy this book is because of John Severin’s art.  Severin is a comics legend, and this book shows that despite his advanced age, he’s still got it.

So, what would you buy Were Money No Object?
