Casting News, News, Projects

Deadline is reporting that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who last year energized the Fast & Furious franchise, is in talks to star alongside The Hunger Games‘ Liam Hemsworth in Empire State, an indie heist film based on a true incident from 1982 involving a New York City armored car company robbery. At the time, the robbery was thought to be the largest on record with more than $11 million stolen.

Dito Montiel (of Fighting and The Son of No One most recently) will direct from a script written by Adam Mazer (Breach, HBO’s telefilm You Don’t Know Jack).

Filming of the indie heist flick is set to begin in April.
