I spend so much time assessing the fashions on the red carpet before the Golden Globes, by the time the actual show rolls around I’m all out of energy.

I saw The Descendents, and really didn’t think it was anything special. In fact, I didn’t love most of the nominated movies – of The Descendents, The Help, Hugo, The Ides of March, Moneyball and War Horse I would have given it to The Ides of March.
As for the other categories, I’ve heard The Artist is excellent so even though I was rooting for Bridesmaids you won’t hear me complaining. But Michelle Williams? Was My Week With Marilyn a comedy or musical?
One award I could get behind was Christopher Plummer for Beginners. I thought he was fantastic in that movie, and his acceptance speech was lovely.

Best and Worst Moments
I felt like Ricky Gervais’s material didn’t seem as edgy or funny as last year (I was a fan of his hosting job last year, though I know not all viewers were…and almost no audience members). But there were still enough moments to make the show worth watching.
First of all, Tina Fey photobombing Amy Poehler when her nomination was announced? Hilarious. I also thought Jimmy Fallon’s appearance was funny. Can he host next year, please? I liked that BFFs Brad Pitt and George Clooney introduced each other’s films, and that Clooney mocked Pitt by walking out with a cane.
I feel like it should be pretty much impossible to hate either Felicity Huffman or William H. Macy after they did their little song – that was adorable. As awards speeches go, I mentioned Christopher Plummer’s but I also thought Claire Danes spoke well – she won a Golden Globe at age 15 and forgot to thank her parents, so now she had a second chance to do so. And seeing Melissa McCarthy cry when Octavia Spencer won? I think it’s impossible to like that gal any more than I already do. I didn’t get to see Sofia Vergara and Steve Levitan’s acceptance speech for Modern Family, but I hear it was funny so I’m looking forward to finishing the show on my DVR tonight.
