With his victory over Carl Froch for the Super Six World Boxing Classic championship in the bag, WBA/WBC/The Ring Super Middleweight champion Andre Ward will take on another role this weekend: boxing analyst.
…Andre Ward will return to SHOWTIME tomorrow/this Friday as a special guest analyst on ShoBox: The New Generation. Ward will join blow-by-blow announcer Al Bernstein and fellow analyst Steve Farhood to call the first two bouts of the night. Antonio Tarver – along with Bernstein and Farhood – will call the world championship main event featuring WBA Super Bantamweight champion Rico Ramos (20-0, 11 KOs) and Cuban amateur standout Guillermo Rigondeaux (8-0, 6 KOs).
Opening the ShoBox telecast, undefeated Matthew Villanueva (6-0-1, 6 KOs) will fight Mike Ruiz (8-1-1, 3 KOs) in an 8-round junior bantamweight affair. The second bout of the evening will be a special 8-round lightweight attraction pitting Guy Robb (7-0, 3 KOs) vs. Joel Diaz Jr. (6-0, 5 KOs) in a battle of unbeaten prospects.
ShoBox will air LIVE tomorrow/this Friday, Jan. 20 at 11 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast) from the Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
