Super Bowl Teaser: Ferris Lives! Matthew Broderick Reprises His Role In Ad About…?

Media, News, Video

What would make Ferris Bueller want to skip a day of work (assuming he’s still not in high school)?

Just when you thought it was safe to go to work today, here comes adult Ferris Bueller making Super Bowl plans. But for what exactly? Could it possibly be to pull the plug from Madonna during the halftime show and do another rousing rendition of “Twist and Shout”? Maybe he’ll cheer up Baltimore Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff by nagging him to get out of bed and come on over.

Apparently the spot won’t be for a sequel to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (darn!). What it will be is a new ad campaign for Honda – because Ferrari doesn’t do commercials. According to the car Web site Jalopnik, the spot will be an homage to John Hughes’ classic including a scene where the valets take Cameron’s dad’s car for a joyride. Only this time it’s a Honda CR-V instead of the Ferrari.

Directed by Todd Phillips of Hangover fame (and Hangover Part II infamy), one wonders if any cameos or raunch and innuendo will be present during the spot.

As cool as it is to see Matthew Broderick aping his famous character, a Honda ad – really? A CR-V is what’s going to rouse him out of bed and play hooky? Hmmm… We’ll know pretty soon if the ad was a hit or miss. In the mean time, watch this original teaser below.
