Jon Jones vs. Rashad Evans Official For UFC 145 In Atlanta

News

It is official: Jon Jones will be defending his UFC Light Heavyweight Title against Rashad Evans at UFC 145 on April 21st in Atlanta, Georgia.

As expected, Rashad Evans has officially been named as Jon Jones’ next opponent following his one-sided victory over Phil Davis at UFC on FOX. UFC.com first broke the story on their website with the following update:

The UFC’s spring fight card in Atlanta has its main event, as UFC president Dana White confirmed today that light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will defend his title against former-teammate-turned-rival Rashad Evans, a former beltholder in that division. The heated matchup was expected after Evans handily decisioned then-undefeated Phil Davis at UFC on FOX and was made official today.

UFC 145 was originally supposed to take place in Montreal, Canada. Due to scheduling conflicts not made public (rumored to be lack of star power) the event was scrapped and UFC 146 which was scheduled to take place in Atlanta, Georgia was simply renamed “UFC 145”. As well as Jon Jones and Rashad Evans, the card is stacked with other fighters like Rory MacDonald, Brendan Schaub, Mark Hominick, Miguel Torres and the UFC debut of Maximo Blanco.
