Natalie Portman To Star In Back to Back Terrence Malick Projects

Casting News, News, Projects

Natalie Portman is ready to go back to work following the birth of her child and according to Deadline, the Black Swan star has agreed to star in the illusive Terrence Malick’s next two films.

Knight of Cups is set to begin production this summer with Lawless beginning this fall.

The Pulse: Considering Malick waited 20 years between 1978’s Days of Heaven and 1998’s The Thin Red Line and went seven years before making The New World in 2005, it seems very out of character for Malick to not only be making a film so soon after the release of his highly acclaimed The Tree of Life (nominated for Best Picture at this years Oscars) but to be making two back-to-back. On top of that he allegedly has plans for a third untitled film coming up as well.

Beyond Portman, Malick has lined up really fantastic casts for his films. Cups will star Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Isabel Lucas. Bale and Blanchett will both return for Lawless and will also star Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara and Haley Bennett.

Whatever Malick has planned for his actors and his audience, I for one and very excited to see what he’s got hidden up his sleeve.
