Uh Oh – Unnamed UFC 143 Participant Flunked Drug Test, Nick Diaz Speculated As Being Culprit

News

Per Kevin Iole at Yahoo! sports, Keith Kizer of the Nevada Athletic Commission has confirmed that one participant from last weekend’s UFC 143 has tested positive. For what, or whom, is still not know though,

Per Kevin’s Twitter Feed:

“Keith Kizer of NV Athletic Commisison says there is one positive test result from @UFC 143. Should know identity later today”

From an email Kizer sent out to members of the media: “Thank you for the many email and phone calls. I am still waiting for all the steroid and drug test results to come back. We did have at least one positive test. I will send out an email later today on that matter.”

Adding more intrigue to it is a Twitter post from ESPN’s Josh Gross seeming to point to Nick Diaz as the culprit especially in light of Cesar Gracie stating that a Condit/Diaz rematch would be off the table for unknown reasons:

“I asked Cesar Gracie yesterday re: rumor about an issue w/ Nick Diaz’s drug test. His answer: “I have been told not to comment on anything.” ”

As of right now Diaz has not been confirmed or denied as to having flunked the drug/steroid test at UFC 143 and his status as being the culprit is purely speculative at best. The phrase “at least 1” would seem to point to more than one person at the event, however.

Kizer will be released the information shortly, apparently, and we’ll have more on the story as it develops.
