7. Jesse Sorensen vs. Zema Ion *#1 Contender’s Match, X Division

Mike Tenay and Jeremy Borash are on commentary, as Taz is dealing with the loss of a family member. SoCal Val is doing the ring announcing. I’m not sure where Christy Hemme is.

MATCH #1: Number One Contender’s Match – Jesse Sorensen vs. Zema Ion

It’s time to give it a rest with Jesse Sorensen already. How many shots at the title or title shots can this guy get? They start the match on the floor but quickly make their way in the ring. Sorensen is all over Ion, trying for the quick pin. Ion gets Sorensen to the floor and hits him with a moonsault. His knees connected with Sorensen’s head and it actually knocks Sorensen out and the match is over after about four minutes as the trainers come out. I may be bored with the guy but I certainly don’t want him to be injured.

WINNER, via countout – Zema Ion, *½

Backstage – Christy Hemme gets a word with TNA World Champion Bobby Roode. He promises to win the main event tonight and stuff.

MATCH #2: Robbie E Open Challenge

I’m surprised TNA remembered that they have a TV Champion. Shannon Moore accepts the challenge. Where’s he been? Moore dominates from the get-go. Robbie comes back by knocking Moore off the ring apron and into the guardrail. They continue to trade control back and forth and the crowd is into the challenger. Moore misses a moonsault and gets leveled with a clothesline for two. Robbie T interferes from ringside, allowing Robbie E to hit the Impaler DDT to get the pin in about nine minutes.

WINNER – Robbie E, ** ½

MATCH #3: TNA Knockouts Title Match – Gail Kim vs. Tara

Tara beat Mickie James and Velvet Sky in a three-way match to earn this title shot. Gail is accompanied by fellow Knockout Tag Team Champion Madison Rayne. They appear to not be getting along tonight. Gail takes the first control, taking it to the challenger. Madison gets fed up and heads to the back for whatever reason, so expect her to come back at some point. Tara fights back and may have injured her knee, but it’s hard to tell because for some reason the sound has completely gone out. Not sure if that’s my problem or TNA’s problem. Tara is probably really hurt because Gail pretty much ends the match right away with the Eat Defeat after about seven minutes.

WINNER – Gail Kim, **

Backstage – Christy Hemme gets a word with James Storm, who is getting his first shot at the title since losing it to Roode in November. He promises to regain the title. Sorry about your damn luck.

MATCH #4: TNA World Tag Team Title Match – Crimson & Matt Morgan vs. Samoa Joe & Magnus

I like this feud but wish TNA had more than just these two teams in the division. The champs control Magnus in the early going, but Joe cheats to give his team the advantage. The challengers isolate on Crimson, keeping him in their half of the ring. Eventually Morgan gets the hot tag and cleans house. The match breaks down and the referee has lost control. Joe and Magnus dump Crimson to the floor and double-team Morgan in the corner. Morgan avoids their double-team move but Crimson accidentally spears his partner and this time Joe hits the snap mare and Magnus follows with the elbow off the second rope and we have new tag team champions in about 10 minutes!

WINNERS – Samoa Joe & Magnus, ***

Backstage – Christy gets a word with Bully Ray. He yells her away and talks trash to all three of his opponents tonight.

MATCH #5: TNA X Division Title Match – Austin Aries vs. Alex Shelley

The sound is going in and out as these two show off their skills in the early going. Aries is cocky and Shelley makes him pay for it. The challenger is dominant, knocking Aries to the floor. The champ crawls under the ring and comes out the other side. Aries knocks Shelley to the floor and hits him with the Heat Seeking Missile. Back in the ring Aries goes to work now, keeping Shelley on the mat. Shelley avoids the Power Drive Elbow and unleashes a flurry of offense. He knocks Aries to the floor and wipes him out with a dive. Back in the ring Shelley continues to pour it on but can’t quite put Aries away. They take it to the apron and Aries hits a Death Valley Driver. Aries continues focusing on the neck but can’t put Shelley away. Shelley comes back and tries the Sliced Bread #2 but Aries avoids it and locks on the Last Chancery and Shelley taps out after about 13 minutes.

WINNER – Austin Aries, ***½

Backstage – Christy gets a word with Jeff Hardy. You know the drill.

MATCH #6: AJ Styles vs. Kazarian

I think this storyline is a little silly. They go back and forth a bit as AJ continually is distracted by Daniels. Part of the problem is that Kazarian has never appeared to be on AJ’s level, and the first portion of this match reaffirms that. Stuff is happening but I’m just not interested in any of it. After what seems like forever (almost 20 minutes, Kazarian hits Fade to Black to get the pin.

WINNER – Kazarian, N/R (I was disinterested and didn’t give the match a fair chance, so no rating)

Backstage – Christy gets a word with Eric Bischoff and Gunner. They talk some trash to Hogan and Garett. Gunner is death on the microphone.

MATCH #7: Gunner vs. Garett Bischoff

Hogan literally begging people to cheer for Garett is really just sad. I’m not going to say that Garett could never become a good performer, but he’s clearly not there yet and TNA is obviously shoving him down our throats before he’s ready. (9:59)Garett is fired up early on, hitting moves like armdrags and dropkicks. Gunner cuts him off and slows the match down. Garett fires back with more basic offense, and has to fight off interference from his father. Once again Gunner slows the match down and works on the neck. Hogan and Bischoff get into some shenanigans on the floor while Gunner continues abusing the neck. It looks bleak so Hogan gets up on the apron with a towel but Garett waves him off. They’re really pushing this aren’t they? Finally Gunner ends this with a DDT after almost 12 minutes.

WINNER – Gunner, *

Backstage – Christy gets a word with the special enforcer for the main event, Sting. His face is streaked with blue paint tonight for some reason.

MATCH #8: TNA World Title Match – Bobby Roode vs. James Storm vs. Bully Ray vs. Jeff Hardy

Roode tries to convince Bully to work with him but he refuses, so Storm and Hardy double-team the champ right away. Bully watches for a while before making his presence felt. Action is coming from all four men in the match as they try to establish dominance. Roode and Storm even work together a little bit before turning on each other. Hardy hits Roode with the Whisper in the Wind. Roode and Storm are on the floor, leaving Bully and Hardy to battle in the ring. All four men make their way back to the ring and continue throwing everything at each other, and the referee gets bumped. Storm hits Roode with the Last Call and the ref has recovered so he counts two but Bully pulls him to the floor and gets into an argument with Sting about it. Meanwhile Hardy misses a Swanton attempt on Roode. Sting and Roode get into an argument and Sting accidentally hits Hardy with the TNA World Title belt. Roode yells at Sting to make the count, which he reluctantly does and Roode gets the win in about 15 minutes.

WINNER – Bobby Roode, ***

I grew up and now I write for Inside Pulse. Oh, and one time I saw a blimp!
