First Teaser For Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Drops, Doesn’t Suck

Media, Top Story, Trailers

The mashup. It’s something to love (Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz) and something to loathe (Cowboys & Aliens). And up until now, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was looking like the latter than the former. Our own Robert Saucedo was vehement against the bad Photoshop images that 20th Century Fox had pass for poster art. He should know; as an avid collector of original poster artwork it’s hard to find a blank space on his walls that doesn’t have a poster.

Now the first teaser has quietly arrived and it succeeds in promoting the filmmakers (producer Tim Burton; director Timur Bekmambetov) first and foremost and using the last remaining seconds to plaster the names of the stars (Benjamin Walker, Dominic Cooper, Henry Sturgess, Anthony Mackie and Mary Elizabeth Winstead).

Using a classic Johnny Cash tune, “When The Man Comes Around,” to get you in the mood, the remaining 70 seconds is a full-on smorgasbord of visual delights, the biggest highlight being a race across the top of a train over a collapsing bridge with fire underneath.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter opens June 22nd opposite Pixar’s Brave and Focus Features’ Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.
