Steve Carell Leads Ensemble In Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World Trailer

As the film that opens up against Pixar’s Brave and Fox’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (watch the teaser), Focus Features’ Seeking a Friend for the End of the World finds itself in a tough spot. But it could be one of those little gems that catches on the way The Kids Are All Right did back in July 2010 – with a lot of critical praise that would compel that average theatergoer to venture out and see something that didn’t have spandex or 3D as a prerequisite.

Plot Summary: As an asteroid nears Earth, a man (Steve Carell) finds himself alone after his wife leaves in a panic. He decides to take a road trip to reunite with his high school sweetheart. Accompanying him is a neighbor (Keira Knightley) who inadvertently puts a wrench in his plan.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World is written and directed by Lorene Scafaria, who previously penned the screenplay for 2008’s Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist – a film that was highly praised by Scott Sawitz and was even featured in his top 10 list for the year, behind Frost/Nixon and The Dark Knight.
