The Voice – Review – “Blind Auditions, Round 3”

Reviews, Top Story

Let’s start with the important news: Cee-Lo’s cat made a reappearance! I must know this kitten’s name, and it must make an appearance every week.

This photo is from last week.

I enjoyed Monday night’s episode of The Voice, and I think the coaches all added some interesting and/or talented musicians to their teams. I find it hard to recap the show during the blind audition stages, so I’ll just point out a few of my favorites for y’all and suggest you head to the comments to do the same.

Katrina Parker: Katrina has a cool look, and I really enjoyed her rendition of “One of Us”. Adam was the only coach to push his button though, so off to his team she goes.

Jeff McBride: Jeff is 51 years old, wears sunglasses all the time because of an old boxing injury to the eye, and killed it on “Higher Ground”. I don’t think he’ll win, but I sure do like him. He surprised me by choosing to go with Christina instead of Cee Lo.

Pip: Does Pip have a last name? No? Well what he does have is talent, and he inspired all four coaches to turn their chairs around with his “House of the Rising Sun” performance. He opted to go with Adam, which seems like a good decision for him.

Erin Martin: Erin is 27, very quirky, and drop dead gorgeous. She’s a model and, honestly, I wasn’t expecting much. And honestly, her voice wasn’t the greatest. But she was crazy unique even without knowing what she looks like, and her funky look just adds to the package. She ended up with Cee Lo, which feels like a great match – Cee Lo was certainly, er, happy about it.

Chris Cauley: Chris sang “Grenade”, but took it in a few surprising directions rather than sticking right to the original.

Jordis Unga: Last but certainly not least was Jordis Unga. I immediately recognized Jordis’s name from back in the day when I was a big fan of Rockstar: INXS, a show I still feel went largely underrated. I thought Jordis was incredibly talented at the time, she rocked her blind audition, and I truly hope she finds success here. Keep your eyes on this one, y’all. She surprised me by picking Blake, who’d turned his chair around first for her.

So, what did you guys think of the episode? Do you have any favorites yet?
