The Rock appeared at the WrestleMania XXIX press conference saying he will appear live and electrify MetLife stadium on April 7, 2013:

Also in attendance at the press conference were John Cena, Triple H, Sheamus, Mark Henry, the Bella Twins, Vince McMahon, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, New York Giants Chairman/CEO John Mara and New York Jets CEO Woody Johnson. Some NY Giants and NY Jets NFL players also appeared.

Meanwhile, the Wrestling Observer reports that long-time WFAN sports talk radio host Mike Francesa popped off on NJ Governor Chris Christie for attending the WWE press conference. Francesa then proved how out of touch he is with wrestling by saying The Rock “is some guy who did bad movies” and that he never heard of John Cena. He then said that the last wrestling match he saw was around 1960 with Bobo Brazil and Argentina Apollo.

CB’s Slant: Are you kidding me? Francesa is way off the mark here in every way imaginable. Not only does he come off as arrogant and smug (as always) about wrestling, he is wrongly blasting a governor who just landed a huge revenue-generating event that will be a huge boost to the local economy.

As a NY native I’ve personally listened to WFAN and Mike Francesa for years, so this is nothing new. It does, however, remain frustrating to hear him spout off about stuff he doesn’t know anything about.

As for The Rock promising to appear at WrestleMania 29, it’s interesting that the event in April 2013 will mark Rocky’s third straight WrestleMania appearance after staying away from the WWE for years.
