DVD Artwork For The Best Of Clash Of The Champions Revealed

Disc Announcements, News

While there is still some hand-wringing on whether or not TNA will let Ric Flair participate in the WWE Hall of Fame induction of the Four Horsemen at this year’s WrestleMania, World Wrestling Entertainment has no qualms about making two current TNA stars the cover models of its upcoming release of The Best of Clash of the Champions on DVD and Blu-ray.

Set to be released on May 22, 2012, the three-disc DVD and two-disc Blu-ray compilations look to cater to old-school fans. Even if the match content is questionable (Ricky Morton and Ivan Koloff in a chain match? Really? And Cactus Jack Manson vs. Mil Mascaras? Definitely not selected by Mick Foley) there’s still some good matches to be found.

Yes it’s lacking some gems (Barry Windham vs. 2 Cold Scorpio from Clash 23, Dustin Rhodes vs. Vader from Clash 29), but you do get two Sting vs. Ric Flair matches, including the one that is spotlighted on the cover – their unification title match at Clash 27.

Synopsis: For close to a decade, professional wrestling fans loved Clash of the Champions, a series of supercards that aired on TBS, featuring the biggest stars of first NWA and the WCW. Over the course of 35 events from 1988 through 1997, fans were treated to championship contests, grudge matches, and spectacular moments. Many of these matches have never been released on home video until now.

The Best of the Clash of the Champions, hosted by 3-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion and WWE Hall of Famer, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, will highlight some of the greatest matches in the event’s ten-year history and features fan favorites Ric Flair, Sting, The Road Warriors, Lex Luger, the Four Horsemen, the nWo, and so many more.
