GCB = Grudge-Holding Cougar Bitches?

As you probably know, I watch a lot of TV. So when a new show comes along, I need to decide if it’ll be worth a precious slot in my already jammed TV schedule. And  after watching a couple episodes of ABC’s new soapy drama GCB (it was originally supposed to be called Good Christian Bitches) I’ve decided not to keep going.

The show is ridiculous and loony, which I like. Leslie Bibb plays a reformed high school mean girl who returns to her small Texan hometown with her two teenage kids after an embarrassing scandal and the death of her husband. The girls she bullied in high school are definitely not over how she treated them, and make their number one mission tormenting her. Kristen Chenoweth is perfectly vindictive and sly as the leader of that pack.

I was hoping I’d find the show funny and campy, but after two episodes I found myself really bored. Episode three sat on my DVR for a full week, and rather than letting the episodes pile up I decided to cut the cord early. I already have high-drama camp in the form of Revenge (I miss that show) and GCB just wasn’t making me laugh say, the way season one of Desperate Housewives did back in the day. (We won’t speak of where she show went after that.)

So that’s curtains for Smash and GCB for me, and I’m still on the fence about Awake. What mid-season shows are you still watching? Do you like GCB? Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be over here awaiting the premieres of Apartment 23 and Girls.
