TNA Impact Wrestling Spoilers for Thursday 04.19.2012 – Lockdown PPV Fallout plus Hulk Hogan’s Big Announcement

News, Spoilers, Top Story

Opening Segment: Out comes TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode, sporting a new haircut. He gloats about beating Storm at Lockdown and loves the psychology behind winning thanks to Storm’s own kick. (It wasn’t luck?)

Mr. Anderson interrupts and says he doesn’t need a beer bottle to win matches. Jeff Hardy then comes out, limping, saying he should be next in line for the title. Roode tries to make them fight right then and there but Hogan comes on the screen and makes a #1 Contender’s match for later in the show.

After a break, Crimson’s music hits and his match is next.

Match 1. Bully Ray & Crimson beat Matt Morgan & X Division champion Austin Aries: Good tag match with Ray getting a roll-up pin on Aries while hooking the rights. Aries was the star worker of the match.

Garrett Bischoff, AJ Styles, Anderson and RVD celebrate the end of Eric Bischoff. Ric Flair comes out and says Eric made all of them who they are today (he’s 1/4 right) and says next week he’s hosting a party tribute to Eric and none of them are invited. Flair calls them all punks during the segment.

Back from break, Kurt Angle comes out with his leg taped. Out comes AJ Styles again.

Match 2. Kurt Angle beat AJ Styles: Kaz and Daniels interfere and Angle eventually wins with a roll-up pin. During the match, AJ winds up taking some kind of note from Angle that Daniels was holding, and afterwards he keeps it in his tights.

It’s announced that Rob Van Dam is also in the #1 Contender’s match.

Next, all of the current TNA Champions assemble in the ring: Joe and Magnus, Gail Kim, Devon, Austin Aries, and Bobby Roode.

Hogan comes out and makes his big announcement on TNA Impact Wrestling TV show format changes:

–Once per month, Impact Wrestling will be called “Open Fight Night.” As part of Open Fight Night, one unsigned talent will have a match to earn a roster spot. Three judges, and ultimately Hogan, will decide whether the talent receives a TNA contract.

–Also as part of Open Fight Night, anyone on the current TNA roster can challenge anyone else and those who are challenged must be ready to fight. This includes current champions and Roode sells anger.

–The TNA TV Title will now be defended every single week on Impact Wrestling. Devon likes this and welcomes the challenge.

Match 3. Team Tessmacher beat Team Rayne in a Knockouts tag match: Eight-Knockouts tag match and roll-up win night continues as Miss Tessmacher rolls up Gail to score the pin.

Back from break, Gunner comes out to ZERO reaction. Devon then enters again to a loud pop.

Match 4. TV champion Devon beat Gunner: Devon wins and he’s excited about defending the title every week.

James Storm is out next and he is sorry for losing at Lockdown. The crowd says it’s okay. Storm said he wasn’t just trying to hurt Roode, but cause him pain. He then mentions the disappointment of losing for his family, and then says Roode didn’t beat him, but that he beat himself. Storm then cites the crowd for his inspiration, and thanks his dad up in Heaven, who was killed by a drunk driver. But, wrestling is what he loves. Storm says maybe his luck has run out and he leaves.

Match 5. Rob Van Dam beat Jeff Hardy and Mr. Anderson in a three-way match to become new #1 contender to the TNA World Title: Jeff Hardy eventually goes up for the Swanton Bomb and nails Mr. Anderson. Not to be outdone, RVD also goes for the Five Star Frog Splash on Anderson at one point. The end comes when Hardy goes for the Twist of Fate on RVD but RVD reverses it and scores the pin. RVD is the new #1 contender and celebrates to close the show.
