Below are the full results from Sunday night’s Over the Limit PPV:
1. Pre-show – Kane beat Zack Ryder
2. People Power Battle Royal – Christian returned and won the battle royal to get an Intercontinental title shot against Cody Rhodes later in the show. The last three standing were Christian, The Miz and David Otunga, attorney at law.
3. R-Boom (R-Truth and Kofi Kingston) beat Los Non-Guerreros (Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger)
4. Layla beat Beth Phoenix to retain the Divas Championship. Layla won with the Lay-Out in a mild surprise.
5. Sheamus beat Chris Jericho, Randy Orton and Alberto Del Rio to retain the World Heavyweight Championship. Sheamus pinned Jericho.
6. Brodus Clay beat The Miz. Miz lost out in the battle royal earlier, embarrassed himself saying he was the best dancer in WWE, and then got squashed by The Funkasaurus. Awful night for The Miz, who has been irrelevant for a long, long time now.
7. Christian beat Cody Rhodes to become the NEW Intercontinental Champion. Christian won via the Killswitch to cement his solid comeback night.
8. CM Punk beat Daniel Bryan to retain the WWE Championship. Bryan had the YES! Lock on Punk, but Bryan’s shoulders were on the mat for the three-count one second before Punk tapped out. Hopefully, this feud will continue.
9. Ryback squashed Hunico/Camacho, whoever it was. Even Lillian Garcia couldn’t tell the difference.
10. John Laurinaitis beat John Cena to remain the General Manager of Raw and SmackDown. Cena pummeled Ace throughout the match and humiliated him with fire extinguishers, trash cans, the Spanish announce table, etc. The end came when Ace tried to leave the arena, Big Show prevented Johnny from leaving, and then Big Show clocked Cena with the WMD knockout punch to swerve everyone no one and enable Johnny to score the pin.
CB’s Slant: Just watch Punk-Bryan, or if you want, Punk-Bryan, the Fatal Four Way, the Battle Royal and Cody-Christian. Everything else is unnecessary.
As for Ace-Cena, everyone saw the swerve ending coming, so this was a brutal main event to sit through that should not have even been the main event. Punk-Bryan for the WWE title should have closed the show, but they did have a solid match on a WWE PPV as the co-main event, so I can’t complain too much.
Moving forward, WWE, PLEASE let a Punk-Bryan rematch headline No Way Out in an Iron Man Match, or something along those lines.
That’s all from me — CB.
