Harrak’s Quick Quips: WWE Raw 5.21.12 (CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, John Cena, Big Show)

Reviews, Top Story, TV Shows

– Over The Limit last night was good, even though the main event ruined the show for a lot of people. Go out of your way to watch the CM Punk vs Daniel Bryan match though. The rematch is going to be great.

– With the Owen Hart accident and Benoit tragedy in their history, how can Jerry Lawler say last night was the darkest day in the history of the company?

– I’d love for someone to do the math and tell me how many times John Cena and Big Show have feuded in their careers.

– “This past Saturday”? This angle would have worked better if Johnny made the deal with the Big Show in the ring right before Show was going to chokeslam him.

– Decent promo from Big Show but we’ve seen it all before. Over and over and over and over again.

– LOVE Sheamus’ new t-shirt and Raw featuring some more young talent.

– I never thought I would hear a the line “it’s just my arm in a cobra costume.”

– Well that was weird. That was an extremely odd place to put that promo and make that announcement.

– I feel a Randy Orton heel turn coming soon.

– I’d like to meet one fan who lived through the Attitude Era who thinks the 3-hour Raw is a good idea.

– Check out Michael Cole & Jerry Lawler trying to fill storyline holes.

– I liked Stephanie McMahon’s reasoning of how the WWE will be able to pull off a 3-hour every week. She said that they produce a 3-hour show every month called a PPV so they’re used to it. THAT’S ONCE A MONTH! This is every week. Remember when the brand split was in full effect and WWE tried to run two 3-hour PPVs a month? That’s when we got memorable characters like Heidenreich, Kenzo Suzuki & Simon Dean.

– Definitely did not think we’d see a Chris Jericho appearance. Unless he’s about to be punted.

– Is Jericho staying one more month to feud with Orton? Isn’t that how he went out last time?

– Love the continuity of this match. Fantastic synergy between SmackDown and Raw. Wow, that may be a first.

– Damn, Punk vs Bryan is fun.

– That was perfectly awkward. I think we’ve all dated someone like AJ.

– Did you know this is Christian’s fourth IC title reign but he’s first with the classic title design? Really cool how he dedicated his win last night to the late Randy Savage.

– Guess this match is just to establish Christian as a babyface to the Raw audience.

– Christian is a good veteran talent to be working with the young guys who are around the IC title division. It’s been a long time since they had someone of his caliber.

– Kelly Kelly & Layla are both on the Maxim Hot #100 this year. Remember when we had Trish, Sunny, Torrie and Stacy? Guess I’m just nostalgic tonight.

– I’m glad Beth has gotten away from the roller derby/skirt thing she had going for awhile. Her character needs a little bit of updating though. That being said, all of the Divas (except AJ & Eve) need character upgrades.

– At least Dolph Ziggler isn’t wearing that aluminum foil looking jacket he did at Over The Limit.

– Why not give your World Champion the babyface comeback instead of the typical Super-Cena spots? Let Cena play the beaten down face for once.

– You gotta think that pretty much everyone has been disappointed with Tensai’s “return”. I’d like to know what really spurred them to bring him back.

– Well that was an extremely weak main event & angle to close the show. This time last year we were right on the verge of the Summer of Punk. I just don’t see any potential of any story like that coming in 2012 which is a damn shame.
