First Trailer For Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph Is An Arcade Gamer’s Dream

Media, Trailers

Over at MSN, Disney has unveiled the first trailer to its post-Halloween / pre-Thanksgiving release of Wreck-It Ralph. The concept is pretty straight forward. John C. Reilly voices the titular character, a guy who has been a villainous mainstay for the arcade Fix-It Felix for more than three decades. Finally deciding he’s had enough of playing the villain (going as far as attending a support group that includes the likes of Super Mario Bros.’ Bowser, and Street Fighter’s M. Bison and Zangief) Ralph “game jumps” to the world of first-person shooters only to unleash a deadly enemy who just might destroy every game in the arcade.

Watching the trailer below, I can already see some of the press blurbs now. “Wreck-It Ralph is like Toy Story but with videogame characters.” Considering that Disney’s Who Framed Roger Rabbit? is one of my all-time faves, I’m willing to again suspend belief that there is such thing a Villainous Anonymous support group where videogame baddies get together to talk about their problems.

Rich Moore, who makes the leap to feature animation after helming a number of episodes of Futurama, The Simpsons and The Critic, directs, and aside from John C. Reilly, the rest of the vocal cast includes 30 Rock‘s Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch and Sarah Silverman.

Wreck-It Ralph will hit theatres November 2, 2012. Anyone else excited?
