If you’re familiar with the work of Quentin Tarantino (hey, who isn’t?), then you know he’s a magician when it comes to paying homage to different periods of cinema. His latest, Django Unchained, is part spaghetti western and part slavery/vengeance pic, but all done with Tarantino’s signature trademarks: memorable characters, juicy dialogue, etc. Watch the trailer below and see if Unchained is what you’ve been waiting for in a Tarantino/Foxx/DiCaprio collaboration.
In case you don’t already know, Jamie Foxx stars as Django, a slave freed by bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz), who he trains to be a bounty hunter. Together they go on a journey, from plantation to plantation, to find Django’s wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), who is being held by the sadistic plantation owner Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio).
Sporting the tagline “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Vengeance,” Django Unchained will look to put audiences in a feel good spirit this holiday season when The Weinsteins usher this to theaters on Christmas Day.
