According to the June 11 Observer Newsletter, the WWE Creative team is being asked / prodded to come up with a huge summer angle that can jolt the stagnant product like the Nexus angle in 2010 and the CM Punk angle in 2011. This is especially important this year because of the huge 1000th episode of Monday Night Raw that is looming on July 23rd, which will kick off WWE’s three-hour Raw episodes and is being built with a high-level PPV feel in mind. After that, of course, is SummerSlam on August 18th, so to have a huge angle to hook in all of the fans and keep them engaged is actually more important this year than years past.
On this notion of Creative pulling a rabbit out of their hat, The Observer says, “That’s a lot easier said than done, particularly since both [the Nexus and Punk] angles are the type that can’t be repeated for a number of years and be anywhere near as effective.”
