The Dark Knight Rises Runtime Is Confirmed

News, Projects

A pattern starts to form the more you look at the run times of the two previous Batman films, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. The former clocked in at 140 minutes. Its sequel ran 12 minutes longer, an incredible 152 minutes. So even if you didn’t have a concrete number you could surmise that The Dark Knight Rises would be at least 2 hours and 20 minutes. Well, it looks like it will pass that mark, and the 152-minute run time of TDK as well.

According to The British Board of Film Classification, the official run time is 164 minutes and 27 seconds. I guess Nolan is really standing firm with the whole “epic conclusion” thing.

Once again, Christian Bale leads an all-star cast playing Bruce Wayne and his alter ego Batman. He’s joined by Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman); Tom Hardy as Bane; Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake. Returning to the main cast, Michael Caine plays Alfred; Gary Oldman is Commissioner Gordon; and Morgan Freeman reprises the role of Lucius Fox.

The Dark Knight Rises opens in theaters and IMAX on July 20.

Anyone else excited about the exceptionally long run time?
