News, Projects

Esteemed director of The Warriors and 48 Hrs. to tackle Baby Jane remake.

Walter Hill most recently finished the Sylvester Stallone vehicle Bullet to the Head, which is set to be released by Warner Bros. in February 2013. Promoting it at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Hill announced his partnership with The Aldrich Company to develop a remake of the 1962 Bette Davis-Joan Crawford classic What Ever Happened To Baby Jane? Hill will write the script and direct the film. The original was directed and produced by Robert Aldrich, with Lukas Heller adapting the Henry Farrell novel.

Baby Jane? explores the nightmarish relationship between two sisters in a crumbling Hollywood mansion, where former child star Jane Hudson (Davis) holds captive her crippled former movie-queen sister (Crawford). Speaking about the development process Hill remarked, “The two equal leads demand great performers — that is a given.” He added, “The idea is to make a modern film without modernizing the period. It needs to resonate the golden age of Hollywood.”

So, who would you want to see play Blanche and Baby Jane?
