Not since The Royal Tennenbaums has writer-director Wes Anderson had a success like Moonrise Kingdom. In eight weeks it has become a certifiable art house hit with close to $35 million earned despite playing at less than 1000 locations. Anderson, who seems to play by his own set of rules when it comes to his features, has been fortunate enough to have strong working relations with the likes of Owen Wilson and Bill Murray. After getting a subdued performance out of Bruce Willis in Kingdom, Anderson has attracted the attention of one of the biggest movie stars on the planet: Johnny Depp.
Depp will star in Anderson’s forthcoming The Grand Budapest Hotel.
The Grand Budapest Hotel will be produced by Anderson along with Scott Rudin and Indian Paintbrush’s Steven Rales.
