Old Music Outselling New Music For The First Time Ever

News

In an odd twist to the music charts, older releases are outselling new releases for the first time in music history.  Led by catalog titles like Guns N Roses’ Greatest Hits, older CDs moved a total of 76.6 million units for the first half of 2012, as compared to the newbies’ 73 million units.  Of course, 72 million of the new stuff was Adele, so it’s probably even worse.  The difference is attributed to catalog titles being priced at nearly half of what new CDs go for.  Also, it’s probably Skrillex’s fault somehow too.
