Tony Scott Didn’t Have Inoperable Brain Cancer Afterall

News, Top Story

Deadline is reporting that Tony Scott’s widow Donna told police that the famed filmmaker/TV producer did not have brain cancer. It was first reported this morning by ABC News on Good Morning America that a source close to Mr. Scott told the news organization that he “had inoperable brain cancer.” The news traveled fast and wide, where it was picked up by a large number of media outlets across the globe as the reason why Scott jumped to death off a Los Angeles bridge early Sunday afternoon. We also went with the same report.

Boy, ABC News is 0-2 of late when making erroneous reports of a sensitive nature. The other, you may recall, was during the reportage of the Aurora movie theater shooting when the news organization claimed the gunman was a Tea Party member. Again, this was false.

A full toxicological report will be conducted and the results will be received in the next 4 to 8 weeks. A spokesman for Lt. Fred Corral with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office says that his office is in possession of “part of a suicide note” found in Scott’s black Prius car found at the scene of the suicide. Information has not been released.
