WWE SmackDown Spoilers for Friday 08.31.2012 – Continued Night of Champions PPV Build, Rey Mysterio Cleared To Compete

News, Spoilers, Top Story

WWE SmackDown Spoilers for Friday 8/31/12 — airing from Green Bay, Wis., plus Rey Mysterio has been cleared to compete after passing concussion tests — Opening Segment: SmackDown General Manager Booker T, Damien Sandow and Sheamus cut the opening promo and Booker makes the match of Sandow vs. Sheamus later tonight.

Match 1. Rey Mysterio def. Cody Rhodes — and rematch week continues in the WWE. Cody is obsessed with Rey’s mask, of course, leading to Mysterio getting the win. After the match, Cody attacked Rey, who was then saved by Sin Cara. Sin Cara then MASKED Cody.

Anger Management Segment 1 from Raw aired.

Match 2. Kaitlyn def. Natalya. Eve was guest commentator. After the match, Kaitlyn vs. Layla for the WWE Divas Championship was confirmed for Night of Champions.

AJ and Vickie’s Slap Segment from Raw re-aired. Booker T called AJ off her rocker, and Vickie said if the WWE Board of Directors doesn’t punish AJ, she will.

Punk and Lawler Raw recap aired, followed by Anger Management Segment 2.

Match 3. Sheamus def. Damien Sandow via countout. Good match before Sandow bowed out like the traditional heel would.

Off-Air: Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Donald Driver gets a ROUSING ovation from the hometown crowd, more-so than any wrestler so far tonight.

Match 4. The Primetime Players def. Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd. There goes “MILLIONS OF DOLLARS” giving away this match on free TV.

Anger Management Video 3 aired, the one where Kane just shined.

In-ring Segment: Josh Matthews awaits Alberto Del Rio for an interview. Del Rio drives out, brags about beating Randy Orton last week and talks about beating Sheamus at Night of Champions. Alberto was going to go after Matthews but Kane comes out and makes the save. Kane tells Josh his therapist wants him to apologize for the attack on him at SummerSlam. The crowd ate this up. Teddy Long comes out and makes a match of Kane vs. Del Rio … right now!

Match 5. Alberto Del Rio def. Kane – Ricardo caused a distraction and Del Rio got the victory. After the match, Kane snapped once more and Choke Slammed Josh Matthews. So much for the apology. Looks like plenty more Daniel Bryan and Kane Anger Management sessions are on the horizon for the next couple of weeks…

The Triple H Retirement saga from Raw was shown (cue the fast forward buttons on your DVRs).

Match 6. Randy Orton def. Dolph Ziggler via the RKO. Orton won clean after a solid match and was WAY OVER with the crowd from start to finish. Vickie Guerrero was FUMING afterwards, selling the Dolph loss hard. Orton posed for the fans (huge pop from the live crowd) to close the show.
