CB’s Slant: TNA Bound for Glory PPV Final Card, Snapshot Thoughts and Preview Videos

News, PPVs, Previews, Top Story

Tonight, it’s TNA’s biggest PPV of the year: Bound for Glory 2012 (Sunday 10/14/12). Below is the final card, which is headlined by TNA World Heavyweight Champion Austin Aries vs. Jeff Hardy, and several BFG preview videos courtesy of Impact Wrestling’s website — ImpactWrestling.com:

CB’s Slant: Bound for Glory 2012 PPV – Final Card and Snapshot Thoughts:

MAIN EVENT: WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: “The Charismatic Enigma” Jeff Hardy vs. Austin Aries (champion)

CB’s Slant: Jeff Hardy has come a long way since TNA’s 2011 Victory Road PPV debacle, at least in TNA’s eyes anyway. I will say that I understand why putting Hardy in the main event against Austin Aries makes sense from a merchandising standpoint. However, while Jeff Hardy is a good name to put on the marquee, I still think Austin Aries is the better option to stay at the top of the card. I am hoping that Impact Wrestling sticks with Double A as their champion, but that Hardy steps up in defeat and puts on a great show. You know, like his WWE days.

Winner: Austin Aries

Aces & Eights vs. Sting & Bully Ray

CB’s Slant: No matter what the big and disappointing reveal is tonight for this Aces & Eights angle, at least we can take solace in the idea that this will all end tonight … can’t we? With Bully Ray testing the waters as a face last week on Impact Wrestling and the crowd going BONZO GONZO for him (as Scott Keith said), I don’t think Ray will be pulling the swerve on Sting anymore. In fact, I am going to stick with my original prediction and go with the Homeland-esque storyline where Joseph Park was beaten down and then turned by Aces & Eights so he can come back tonight as THE MONSTER ABYSS once and for all. And with Bully Ray and Joseph Park’s / Abyss’ history, the double turn would make sense, making Ray the face and Abyss the heel when all is said and done.

As for who is behind the faction? Unfortunately, it will likely be Jeff Jarrett, right? Right.

Winners: Aces and Eights, with help from Abyss.

WORLD TAG TEAM TITLES: AJ Styles & Kurt Angle vs. Chavo Guerrero & Hernandez vs. Daniels & Kazarian (champions)

CB’s Slant: I think the World Tag Team Chamions of the World … of the World … retain here in a huge cluster-f**k of a match that will be way too sloppy given the participants involved.

Winners: Daniels and Kazarian

STREET FIGHT: Bobby Roode vs. James Storm
Special Enforcer: King Mo

CB’s Slant: This is THE MATCH that has been ONE YEAR in the making. I like that Bobby Roode vs. James Storm has come full circle and that they are squaring off here at BFG 2012, but I did think the stakes would be higher and that they would be wrestling for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Instead, we get this King Mo nonsense and the culmination of a rivalry that has fizzled more than sizzled of late. With that said, this should still be a fun match to watch, and the announcers will have a lot of history to play off of during their commentary. Let’s see if they use it.

Winner: James Storm

TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Magnus vs. Samoa Joe (champion)

CB’s Slant: I forgot Samoa Joe was the TV Champ at the moment. Magnus and Joe have shown good chemistry in the ring, so this should be a sound, entertaining fight.

Winner: Samoa Joe

X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP: Zema Ion vs. Rob Van Dam

CB’s Slant: Zema Ion’s biggest claim to fame is injuring Jesse Sorensen. Other than that, he’s pretty forgettable and RVD was thrown in this match for good old-fashioned course correction.

Winner: RVD

KNOCKOUTS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Tara vs. Miss Tessmacher (champion)

CB’s Slant: In recent interviews, Tara said she was thrilled to make TNA’s biggest PPV of the year and that one of the reasons she left WWE was because they simply wanted to use her as enhancement talent for the younger, crappier Divas. Not that Tessmacher is any better than Eve or anything, but I actually think Tara prevails here and gets a nice little run with the Knockouts strap for her efforts.

Winner: Tara

Joey Ryan vs. Al Snow

CB’s Slant: It’s GUT CHECK time for Joey Ryan and Al Snow. I am hoping that Ryan gets some of his buddies from his YouTube videos to help him out win here — you know, guys like Generation Me or Amazing Red or something. There is NO WAY Al Snow should win here, under ANY circumstance.

Winner: Joey Ryan
