CB’s Slant: WWE Survivor Series Preview: Current Card and Snapshot Thoughts (Ryback vs. CM Punk vs. John Cena)

News, PPVs, Previews, Shows, Top Story

WWE Survivor Series is this Sunday 11/18/12 and is highlighted by the huge Triple Threat WWE Championship match between Ryback, CM Punk and John Cena. Of course, there’s also Big Show vs. Sheamus in their rematch for the World Heavyweight Championship, and a traditional Survivor Series tag match that just might do the impossible and have people cheer The Miz. Check out the full Survivor Series card below as well as my own little snapshot preview:

WWE Survivor Series Pre Show on YouTube:

Two members of 3MB (Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal) vs. Team Co-Bro (Santino Marella and Zack Ryder)

CB’s Slant: Being that this is the YouTube Pre Show, you’d think maybe Zack Ryder would have some sort of edge. Not when 3MB is the low / mid card flavor of the month.

Winners: 3MB

WWE Survivor Series Current Advertised Card:

Divas Championship:
Eve (c) vs. Kaitlyn

CB’s Slant: You know, I might not love this storyline all that much, but at least the Divas division has actually had one coherent storyline over the past few months. I think this is the logical point of this angle where the baby face gets her revenge and the heel gets her just desserts. Therefore…

Winner and NEW Champion: Kaitlyn

United States Championship:
Antonio Cesaro (c) vs. R-Truth

CB’s Slant: There is now way Antonio Cesaro loses the U.S. title to R-Truth, right? Right.

Winner and STILL Champion: Antonio Cesaro

Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match:
Team Foley vs. Team Ziggler

CB’s Slant: I am REALLY looking forward to this match. I understand why the whole “Team Punk” idea was changed and split off into two separate matches as not having a main event WWE Championship may seem anti-climactic in some fans’ eyes, but I still dig this whole concept and I’m thrilled to have at least one traditional SurSer tag match on the card.

And, believe it or not, this just might end up being The Miz’ coming out party as a baby face, especially if the crowd is more LimoDriver than Blair A. Douglas.

At the end of the day, I think this will be the feel-good match of the night, especially with how I personally would book the two title matches. As a result…

Winners: Team Foley

World Heavyweight Championship:
Big Show (c) vs. Sheamus

CB’s Slant: Sheamus could win back the Big Gold Belt here, but I highly doubt that the Big Show wants or would agree to another super short title reign. Besides, you know this feud will wind up culminating in a Tables match at TLC anyway.

Winner: Big Show

WWE Championship Triple Threat Match:
CM Punk (c) vs. John Cena vs. Ryback

CB’s Slant: There were rumors floating around the Interwebs this week that Vince McMahon was very close to pulling the trigger on a Ryback title win at Hell In A Cell. Instead, WWE got creative (no pun intended) and gave us the rogue referee story with Brad Maddox front and center. Speaking of Maddox, does anyone else really think the last we’ve seen of him is in that ambulance last week? Something tells me we will get a ref bump and a Maddox appearance during this match at a crucial point in the contest, but ultimately that will lead to a teased finish and not the actual end of the match. Instead, I have a feeling Ryback and Cena will destroy each other, and Punk will pick up the pieces with a pin on Cena to protect Ryback and keep Punk as the Champ for a full year as of next week.

And, dare I say it, but could this whole Brad Maddox situation be a mere smokescreen for a bigger surprise that will happen at Survivor Series? You know, something along the lines of The Rock or Brock Lesnar? We’ll find out Sunday around 10:50 pm ET, I’m sure.

EITHER WAY………

Winner and STILL Champion: CM Punk

That’s all from me — enjoy Survivor Series — CB.
