The team of Jerry Bruckheimer (producer), Gore Verbinski (director) and Johnny Depp (talent) are back in the saddle again. This time it’s literal. The trio created the ultra-successful Pirates of the Caribbean films that started to drop in quality as the series progressed. Now they look to revive an old black-and-white TV show: The Lone Ranger.
The first teaser was a bit iffy, but this latest from Walt Disney Pictures shows promise. You can watch it below or in HD over at Apple.
However, you would think with Johnny Depp being the most visible character in the trailer they would have been better off calling it Tonto and the Masked Man. In the film the titular hero is reimagined for the big screen. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice-taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.
Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, and Helena Bonham Carter co-star.
The Lone Ranger opens in theaters on July 3, 2013.
