Murtz On The Scene – The Voice Finale – Exclusive Red Carpet Video Interview With Nicholas David

There is no doubt that Nicholas David surprised a lot of people on Monday night.

While many never expected the soul singer to make it into the finale, he clearly has a legion of fans as he has outlasted perennial competition favorites, Trevin Hunte and Amanda Brown.

One of the main reasons for his success has been his partnership with Cee Lo Green. When Nicholas started on the show, one would be remiss if not to say that he was both mild-mannered and reserved but as the show has moved forward, so has his stage presence and personal growth. In the final performance episode of the season, David silenced critics with his spectacular song choices. Started with a hot medley of Jerry Lee Lewis’ “Great Balls of Fire” and Jimi Hendrix’s “Fire,” the stage literally exploded with flames not only smoking out of David’s piano and his background, but also from himself. The singer continued his stellar night with a great encore rendition of Bill Withers’ “Lean On Me,” and just when I thought that he had done everything he could, he surprised me once again.

His duet with Cee Lo on Wild Cherry’s “Play That Funky Music” was perhaps one of the best song selections on any reality show stage and while it was eccentric, memorable and even a little strange, there is no denying its entertainment value.

On the red carpet, I asked Nicholas about whether he felt there was an additional pressure on him to win because Cee Lo hasn’t tasted victory yet.
