The Voice – Season Finale Review

The winner is… Cassadee Pope. Nicholas David came in third, which surprised me, and Terry in second. (Is that the power of having Blake as your coach?) I knew that if iTunes was a reliable indicator that Cassadee would win, and she deserved it. Good for her! I hope she becomes the first real success story to come out of this show, I think the has it in her to be a star.

The musical performances tonight were pretty hit and miss. A lot of the duets were kind of boring – Nicholas with Smokey, Cassadee with The Killers, Terry with Peter Frampton – and that performance of “Stacy’s Mom” was a miss. I liked the Kiss song by Terry and his rock pals. It was bittersweet to see Amanda back on stage. I loved hearing her sing again, but she should’ve won. I liked seeing Team Blake perform with Kelly (though her outfit was horrendous).

I really enjoyed Cassadee’s performance with her lady friends from the competition. A great song, a great chance to hear the lovely De’Borah again, and an all around great group performance. The girls kind of killed it – I also liked “Best of My Love”.

I was surprised that Nicholas chose a Boyz II Men song, but I loved who he chose to perform with. I just knew it would be awesome. The song choice worked in so many ways – everyone sounded great, it’s meant for a group, and it suited the “end of the road” of this season of The Voice. Brilliant.

I loved “Time of Your Life” and I felt like it really showed just how talented and different the four coaches are.
