While nobody expected Fifth Harmony to win The X Factor, their advancement into the finale spoke volumes about the way the group meshed after they were grouped together by the show’s mentors. The girl-group got better every week and certainly fills a hole in today’s current music landscape. While most people were expecting a Tate Stevens/Carly Rose Sonenclar showdown (which is ultimately what ended up happening last night before Tate pulled off the win), there were many who thought that Lauren, Ally, Dinah, Camila and Normani could pull off one of the biggest upsets in reality television history.
In all honesty, despite their bronze medal finish, Fifth Harmony basically won despite not receiving the $5 million recording contract. The quintet didn’t know each other three months ago and had the least amount of rehearsal time with each other while there competitors were used to performing alone.
I had the chance to catch up with Fifth Harmony on Thursday December 20 on the carpet moments after Tate was declared the winner of Season 2. We discuss how how we are wearing matching colors, why they took the news so well when they found out they didn’t win and if they plan on staying together as a group.
